Land/Lease Analyst

This is a newly created full time position located in our new Denver Office.  The successful candidate will report to the Land Manager.

Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage Lease Records including input of leases/contracts together with day to day  maintenance/updating of lease records;
  • Run monthly calendars for circulation to Landmen for recommendations;
  • Ensure all lease rentals and similar obligations are approved/paid in timely fashion;
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports, including expiry, lease obligation, acreage type reports, for Project Teams and Management;
  • Prepare lease exhibits for assignments and agreements;
  • Prepare Declarations of Pooling and/or Communitization Agreements for wells in Montana as directed by Landmen;
  • Assist with major transactions, acreage dispositions/acquisitions; acreage trades etc;
  • Produce accurate and timely Property Master Forms, Working Interest DOI set-ups and assist with name and address maintenance;
  • Interface with brokers, Landmen and finance personnel to effect timely payment of lease bonuses, surface damages, wire transfers and brokers’ invoices, including accurate coding and documentation of same;
  • Assist Landmen where needed to comply with partner requirements under agreements and prepare/review and approve assignments, segregation agreements, etc;
  • Work closely with JIB Accounting, Engineering and Finance.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum ten years experience in land records;
  • Strong working knowledge of Government regulations and policies regarding land related operations in the Western United States, including Montana and North Dakota;
  • Knowledge of fee, state and federal oil and natural gas lease agreements a must;
  • Drilling and production spacing unit impact on land records required;
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, Excalibur and/or other land software packages.
