Enerplus established its U.S. presence in August, 2005, through the acquisition of Lyco Energy Corporation, a private oil and natural gas producer operating in Montana and North Dakota. A subsequent acquisition of Sleeping Giant LLC increased the holding of Enerplus in the Montana properties. As a result of these acquisitions Enerplus has a focused core area in the US with production of approximately 10,000 boed, significant development opportunities being realized through an active 3-rig drilling program and 120,000 acres of highly prospective undeveloped land.
