US Regulatory Compliance Coordinator

Enerplus currently has an opportunity for a Regulatory Compliance Coordinator. Located in our Denver office, this position will report directly to the Team Lead, Regulatory and Environment within the Government and Regulatory Affairs Department. The Regulatory and Environment Team is responsible for the development of processes, rules/regulation tracking and reporting to support Operations and other departments in meeting Enerplus’ regulatory compliance obligations at the Local, State, Federal and Tribal level. The Regulatory and Environmental Team is expected to manage all aspects of regulatory issues as they arise, and this Regulatory Compliance Coordinator position will play a key role in identifying and communicating regulatory risk and coordinate the necessary actions to minimize that risk to the company. As such, this position will be expected to show efficiency and professional competence in developing and maintaining strong internal and external relationships with key stakeholders.


Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:

  • Be the contact for regulatory questions for all stakeholders (regulators, office and field staff and external partners).
  • Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship with all stakeholders, internal and external.
  • Coordinate and support noncompliance issues for US Operations.
  • Coordinate and support the response and corrective action required for regulator questions, concerns, enforcements or appeals.
  • Coordinate the regulatory/environmental training and education of internal staff and contractors as required.
  • Develop and maintain a regulatory compliance system.
  • Work closely with other members of the Government and Regulatory Affairs Department and members of other Teams – Operations, Land, Geology Supply Chain, Accounting/Finance – to ensure regulatory risk to Enerplus is identified, communicated and mitigated.
  • Liaise with other members of the Government and Regulatory Affairs Department to ensure that there is consistency across the organization.
  • Coordinate and assist with inspections of field operations and systems to ensure that regulatory requirements and obligations are being met in the most efficient manner available.
  • Presentations, reporting and internal/external correspondence associated with this position will require excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • May be required to support Emergency Response duties.
  • 20-25% travel to US field. Some travel to Calgary will be necessary, so this position will be required to have a valid Passport.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with US regulatory and environmental regulation/requirements as well as best practices in oil and gas.
  • Regulatory experience in Colorado, North Dakota and Montana is a plus.
  • Demonstrated confidence leading the identification of regulatory issues and coordinating the resolution of noncompliance issues.
  • Strong communicator. Skilled at working in a dynamic environment with high expectations.
  • Expertise in developing and maintaining relationships.
  • Demonstrated management and organization skills.


Relocation is not offered for this position. This is a full time benefits position.
