Enerplus conducts its business in a way that ensures the health and safety of our workers, respects the environment and builds positive, long-term relationships in the community.

Corporate Responsibility

We are committed to the responsible development of energy resources in a way that ensures the health and safety of our workers, respects the environment, and builds positive, long-term relationships in the community. We recognize that earning our social license to operate is critical to our continued success, and we do this by conducting our business with honesty, transparency and integrity. Our culture and values are based on treating employees, neighbours and partners with dignity, trust and respect – while our policies and procedures guide us in our daily work.

Industry Associations

Enerplus actively participates in the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) Responsible Canadian Energy Program. The program strives to be a call to action – a collective commitment to measure industry performance and to encourage its members to find new approaches to reduce their environmental footprint, to ensure every worker returns home safely every day, and to continue to improve the ways in which we communicate and engage the public and other stakeholders.

Enerplus also actively participates in the Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada (PTAC) by providing funding and supporting research projects including those directed at reducing impacts to air, land and water. The purpose of this research and development of new technologies includes minimizing waste disposal at landfills, equipment emissions, risk of spills and excessive disturbance of surface and subsurface soils.

Industry Awards

In September 2008, Enerplus was given the Prevention Solutions that Work Award at the annual Canadian Society of Safety Engineering conference held in Quebec City for the company’s "Safety is a MOMENT OF CHOICE" campaign. The entry was selected by the delegates of the conference as the entry they felt best resolved a health and safety challenge.

Enerplus was also awarded the Work Safe Alberta 2007 Best Safety Performer Award which is granted annually by Alberta Employment and Immigration to those companies that demonstrate exceptional performance in workplace health and safety. This includes the commitment to strive to ensure no harm to employees, contractors or the public.
