CALGARY, Nov. 24, 2011 /CNW/ - Canadian oil and gas producer Enerplus is adding its energy to help the United Way and their fight to end hunger.
In November, the annual Enerplus United Way campaign raised almost $290,000 through employee contributions and corporate matching to support the United Way in both Calgary and Red Deer. The focus of the Enerplus campaign has been to join the fight against hunger by supporting the "Food and More" program. We recognize that more than 20,000 Calgary and area kids go to school hungry every day, and through the United Way, over 250,000 breakfasts, lunches and snacks were served to children in 2010. The "Food and More" program is developing an innovative on-line purchasing, tracking and distribution system that maximizes the purchasing power of every dollar donated towards feeding the hungry. It is estimated that the organizations using the purchasing system will be able to buy food for those in need at 25 percent below market value.
Since 1988, Enerplus has been a proud partner of the United Way, donating more than $3.5 million through corporate and employee contributions.
Established in 1986, Enerplus is a North American energy producer with a diversified asset base of oil and gas assets that offer both a stable cash flow stream as well as growth potential.
