Our Approach

We are proud of what we do and how we do it. Our core values include a commitment to develop our resources responsibly and profitably, while making a positive contribution to society. Consistent with this commitment, we work to ensure that our operations remain safe, resilient and sustainable.

In 2019, following five years of sustainability reporting, we recognized the opportunity to enhance the governance of our disclosure through continued transparent board oversight. An internal environmental, social and governance (ESG) working group was formed to review and complete a materiality assessment of ESG risks in accordance with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) materiality map. SASB defines issues to be material if they are reasonably likely to impact the financial condition or operating performance of a company and are therefore relevant indicators for investors. Coming out of the working group’s review, our approach has been to identify ESG focus areas that could materially impact value, establish opportunities and objectives relative to each focus area, and integrate these into our strategy and enterprise risk management process. This work has led to the development and implementation of our Environmental, Social and Governance Policy.

Our approach is to ensure health, safety, environment, stakeholder engagement and regulatory compliance are integrated into everything we do, as we recognize this commitment is essential to our success.

Our ESG management system supports our risk management practices where we identify, evaluate, prioritize and mitigate our health, safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental risks consistent with other enterprise risks. These program elements are critical to our ability to execute on our approach.
